Hi, my name is Jim Green... I'm a self taught professional artist from Austin Texas, now living somewhere else. I've been doing art since I was 3. I was "discovered" by a Professor of Art at the University of Texas in Austin in the 7th grade, where one of my drawings was used as a proper example of how to do a drawing for his art classes. I've had many solo and group exhibits and my art work is seen world wide on my other website. Many of my works are in private collections and many are owned by celebrities. I do portraits and other works on commission and sell my original one of a kinds. My primary mediums are pencil, pen and ink and oil paints. I consider myself a "thinking" artist as many of my works are symbolic pieces, but I'm just as comfortable to doing a sunset.
I like to meet people and make friends. I consider myself a pretty nice guy for the most part. I love to talk. Feel free to add and lets chat. Id love to get to know you.
I feel that we are all like puzzle pieces you know. Some look sort of alike but they are unique and some you cant tell what they are until you get to look closer to figure them out. Some will never fit with us and thats okay. But those that do, those that are meant to be next to us, close to us, those become our friends.
Im like you on this journey we call life, random sometimes and sometimes with a clue but ultimately Im looking for those other puzzle pieces that are meant to be next to me. I believe though that even if you are a puzzle piece and you dont fit right next to me that you and I are both still in the bigger picture. And if youve ever put a puzzle together and you got to the very end and that one piece was missing how the entire puzzle was incomplete. I feel that we are all important to that bigger picture, you, me, everyone of us.
Early on I realized that my thing was to create and to express myself some how, whether it was in art or writing music or playing my guitar and later role playing and doing photo manips that I had this need to create and extend out past myself. I love how you can take a blank piece of paper and with a little effort create something that wasnt there before or pull someone into a world in the form of a story.
For me though its not the destination, its the journey, whether that is creating art or meeting and making friends. Its that journey of discussions and discovery of getting there that I find most fascinating. I do hope that you will get to know me better, that we can become good friends and that you will take a moment to look over my work which is really an extension of myself while Ive been on this artistic and creative journey and perhaps one of friendship as well, our friendship.
However,do NOT confuse my compassion, mercy and kindness for weakness. I am anything but weak. I am a survivor and I will always be the last man standing when the smoke has cleared. I am a survivor of the following: Homelessness, truck wreck (where we hit a cow and destroyed the truck) motorcycle wreck, neck surgery (and my father dying the same week), blowing a disc in my back, mother dying in my arms, blowing a hole in my lung where the the air went into my chest cavity, being bit in the face by a boxer, falling out of a tree and landing on my neck, hitch-hiking across the country with a girl friend, a bad marriage and divorce, having a hundred pound 4 drawer file cabinet being dropped on my head from 10 feet up and having my neck broke. The list goes on and on. So you see I'm a survivor. I have eclectic taste in people, places and things. I love meeting people and making friends and find everyone has an interesting story to tell.
